America's Test Kitchen
The Science of Cooking Yep, I've been geeking out on kitchen science. My husband is a willing taste tester and we haven't come across a bad recipe from this site yet! It's all about food creation using the scientific method -- changing one variable at a time until these recipes were born. They yield perfect products every time, and I just love the scientific explanations for the techniques. I've learned so much about food and cooking from this site. I always tell my students that we can't taste anything in the lab... except when the lab is your kitchen! YUM! |
TED: Ideas Worth Spreading
TED is an acronym for Technology Entertainment Design. It's a non-profit global multidisciplinary conference devoted to spreading ideas in the form of short (less than 20 minutes) talks from speakers of all ages, education levels, and backgrounds. Presentations are available in more than 100 different languages and topics vary widely including science, business, or human relationships. I've been fortunate to attend two TEDx community conferences since I've worked for MBUSD, and they truly are life-changing. So the next time you have 20 minutes to spare, check out a TED talk, and be inspired. |
